Jeffrey Broobin asked:

The three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union are similar and feature a “Credit Score”, which is created from credit report data submitted to them about you.

But very often your credit report includes inaccurate, wrong or incomplete information (credit records).

In this situation you have to prepare and send letters to each of the credit bureaus. Also learn your credit rights by familiarizing yourself with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

The FCRA gives you the right to dispute inaccuracies or omissions, and it requires credit bureaus to investigate your complaint (generally within 30 days), send you a prompt response and correct any errors. The law also requires the source of inaccurate information (such as a bank) to correct the record at the credit bureaus to which it initially provided the erroneous information.

Consumers working on their credit reports say many times their letters are ignored by the credit bureaus. Consumer’s say even with proof a credit record is not theirs; its removal from their credit report can take three or four challenge letters, because the credit bureaus may have only verified it in their computers and not on the credit report.

Send your dispute letter by CERTIFIED RETURN RECEIPT MAIL. This should not be done with the first attempt.

Keep a record of when you sent the dispute letters and what date you should expect a response.

If you have received no answer to your dispute after 30 to 37 days, send a certified return receipt letter requesting an updated credit report demanding the disputed credit record be deleted.

If the bureaus do not reply within the 30 days, it must be that the information was either inaccurate, or it could not be verified. In either case, according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the credit record must be immediately deleted from credit report.

Some consumers have eliminated negative marks on credit reports simply by going through this process of disputing credit records several times. Since some creditors will not take the time to respond, you may be able to win by default.

In addition, some consumers working on their credit report have seen another negative credit record or two disappeared. Usually some progress is made each time you challenge. Remember, the credit bureau would like you to quit bothering them because if you aren’t disputing the credit report, they can legally continue selling it as profitable information.

To obtain the excellent credit report service, correct your credit, get FREE online Credit Report, make your Credit Score higher or avoid becoming a Victim of Identity Theft visit at Legal Helpmate Corp

Your credit score is important for obtaining credit. Your credit score is important to know, whether you need a new credit card, an auto loan, or a mortgage. Lenders use your credit scores to decide whether you are a good credit risk. If you have a high credit score, you are more likely to obtain the best rates.

Peggy

Waller Jamison asked:

Maintaining a good credit score isn’t easy at the best of times, but if you have worked hard to improve your credit and achieved a decent score, you wan to keep it that way. However, your credit score changes every time you take out a loan or are late with your payments and can also change through no fault of your own.

One of the reasons that your credit score can fall is because your report contains errors. This unfortunately can have an adverse effect on your ability to borrow money.

If you want to be sure that there are no mistakes in your credit score, you have to check it at regular intervals, that is to say at least once a year. And don’t forget that there are three major credit bureaus and each may have a slightly different score.

If you keep an eye on your credit score, you’ll be able to ensure that there are no major problems when you need to borrow money for a car, mortgage or other expensive item. It can be extremely inconvenient to be about to take out a loan and find that you are unable to do so because of problems with your credit score.

If you find any irregularities on your report you must contact the relevant credit bureau right away so that they can identify the problem and sort it out before it becomes a major issue. Any credit bureau dispute needs to be cleared up immediately.

Generally speaking, mistakes are just small errors which can be fixed quickly and without much effort, but even a minor error can prevent you getting credit when you need it most.

There are times when a mistake is the result of identity theft, which has become much more common these days and of course is a very serious problem, one that you must take steps to resolve immediately. If you are a victim of identity theft, the credit bureaus will put an alert on your file and this will explain the situation to any potential lenders. Identity theft can have long-term repercussions and is something you want to deal with as soon as possible.

Brian

David M. Pratt asked:

Are you looking for a prepaid card that reports to a credit bureau? The short answer is that most prepid cards do not help you improve your credit. That’s because prepaid cards are not credit cards, and thus they do not extend credit to you. No credit, no credit bureau tie in.

However, there are are some cards that offer a credit reporting feature. Called the iAdvance Line of Credit by MetaBank, this is essentially a way to take out loans on a prepaid card account that when paid back get reported to one or more of the three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion, or Equifax.

What Is a Prepaid Card?

First know how prepaid cards work. They are stand alone cards that look and act like a checking account debit card. They carry the Visa or MasterCard logo (typically) and run on the same debit card networks. They have an embossed 16-digit number on the front. This is your card’s account. They have a magnetic strip on the back for card swipe machines to read your card account number. And they have a security code and signature line on the back as well. Unlike traditional debit cards (also known as check cards) prepaid cards are debit cards that are not attached to a checking or savings account.

You simply apply for a prepaid card from any number of prepaid card companies–such as MiCash MasterCard. There are no credit checks. You just have to verify your identity by providing your social security number and birth date (as required under the U.S. Patriot act to avoid terrorists or other criminals from obtaining a card). To use the card, you must “load” your card with money. You can do this through direct deposit, or through reloading networks. (See which networks apply to your prepaid card).

After you do that, you can use the card for purchases, and for each purchase, the purchase amount is deducted from your card’s balance. When you reach zero dollars, you either need to put more money onto your card or it will become inactive. With prepaid cards, you’ll pay either a monthly fee or a per-transaction fee (usually a dollar a transaction). So while these cards aren’t free, for the unbanked (people who can’t get a credit card or a checking account) they are an excellent alternative.

More About iAdvance

Here’s how iAdvance works. You go to the iadvance website and sign up using your card account. You have to have direct deposit set upon your card as well. With the MiCash Card, you simply download a direct deposit form and, fill it out with your card’s account number, and hand it in to your employer’s payroll department.

Once you have set up direct deposit, you contact iAdvance online or by phone and take out a loan against your card balance (up to 50% of your balance). iAdvance does not recommend treating this program like a payday loan, and limits the number of iAdvances you can take out in a given calendar year.

Rather, it is meant for you to take out small loans–even as small as $20, which will then be automatically paid back the next time you have a direct deposit. This loan transaction and the fact that you paid it back on time (which happened automatically provided you didn’t cancel direct deposit in the interim) is reported to one or more of the three major credit bureaus.

Over time, you will build up a history through iAdvance of paying loans back on time. This should help with your credit score, althought iAdvance makes no claims that it will.

Not a Credit Card

So, even though you don’t have a credit card, this is a good method for generating some “credit” that will wind up in your credit report. Another method is to pay bills, although bear in mind that most bill pay programs do not report to the major credit bureaus and hence, their value is minimal.

Leonard

Hector Milla asked:

Every individual is entitled to one free credit report every year from each of the three major credit bureaus Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. The companies have long opened their doors in support of individuals wanting to keep track of what is happening in their own financial world. Any individuals report will contain a score. This so called credit score is meant to indicate how much of a risk the borrower will pose to a lender by rating the borrowers past habits of bill payment, and scoring them.

To receive a score, the individuals past information is sent through a system called the FICO model, which will evaluate the numbers received, and present the assigned credit bureau with the appropriate score. If a borrower requests such a score of any individual from one of the bureaus, the requester will have to pay a fee to the assigned bureau, where the bureau in turn will pay FICO to calculate the score.

Recently, a new way of calculating individual credit scores has been introduced by a new company. The new scoring system is meant to either lower the price FICO charges for its services to the credit bureaus, or to cut this service completely by being able to score individuals information without the middle man.

The new system looks much like an Elementary School Report Card:
Where 900-990 equals A,
801-900 equals B
701-800 equals C
601-700 equals D, and
501-600 equals F

FICA’s scoring system ranges from 300 to 850, where a score above 700 usually means that an individual will pose a low risk to the lender.

The new scoring system has caused for some controversy amongst borrowers because of individuals who would have scored well within a 701-800 score in the past are now being rated within the in C score. The new scoring system is also causing confusion for lenders since they must possibly start to read between the ranks in order not to rank an individual within a lower lending category he or she would have been entitled to when based on the FICA model. This new company, like others, has yet to be tested in comparison to FICO, which means that the final conclusion of whether one is better then the other is still missing. It do seems however, that this new company might present a more reliable rating system when basing a lending decision with any borrower.

Bernice

Tiffany Dow asked:

As the economy continues to go through major upheaval, banks are becoming increasingly reluctant to loan money – even to each other! The lending boom in which banks and lending institutions loaned money indiscriminately has led to a huge rise in home foreclosures, financial upheaval, and near disaster.

The $700 billion bailout has been turned down, and the everyday person is left to wonder, “What’s next?” It’s true – there may very well be a new bailout proposal that might pass in the future and it keeps happening – first the car industry, then the credit and banking industry. Expect more bailout proposals in the coming years.

And as with everything, this financial crisis will pass. But what is bound to linger is the fact that right now, and most likely in the future, it will be very difficult to get a loan for anything unless you have a good credit bureau report.

The days of securing a loan even with bad credit are over. If you want to finance a car, a home, a boat, a pool for the back yard or much of anything else, you must have good credit! So what do you do if your credit is less than stellar?

How are you ever going to be able to finance anything ever again? Your first step has got to be to repair your credit and make sure your credit bureau reports are correct. This might take a while to do, but if you get started now, you’ll be in good shape for future purchases on credit. Here are the credit bureau report repair tips you will need to use:

1.) Get a copy of each of your credit bureau reports from the three major credit bureaus – Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Without your credit reports, you can’t move forward with fixing your credit.

2.) Review each report thoroughly. If you see errors, make a note of them. If any reports are missing good credit information, make a note of those as well.

3.) At this point it will be handy to start a filing system, perhaps folders, for each creditor that you need to contact to either fix faulty information or to add favorable information to you credit reports. You can keep your notes, letters you write to creditors and reporting agencies and other important information organized this way.

4.) If there are errors or omissions in your credit bureau reports, write letters to both the reporting bureaus and the creditors involved and provide them with as much detailed information as possible. You will want to include copies of any supporting documents and you might even want to include a copy of the credit report with the item in question circled if you are requesting a correction in a reporting error.

5.) Once you’ve contacted your creditors and the bureaus in writing, get copies of your credit reports again (you should wait 30 to 60 days to give them time to correct their errors). If the corrections you’ve requested aren’t showing, write them again. It may be necessary to repeat this step a few times – the squeaky wheel will get greased most quickly.

6.) If you don’t get the changes you’ve requested, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission and make your case known to them. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, they can help you get results.

7.) Be sure that once you’ve fixed any errors or omissions, you keep monitoring your credit report on a regular basis and that you always manage your money wisely to keep your credit score top-notch.

Making certain that your credit report is accurately reporting your credit history is your first step to credit repair. By using these credit bureau report repair tips, you will be forming the foundation for rebuilding your credit.

Milton

Tarron Acuff asked:

The three major credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian, and keep information on your credit history. If you don’t have any credit it should say is that the report does not exist because no credit has been established. If they do have credit established, it will tell you what is on your report. If you should ever see something on your report that looks like fraud, Contact the fraud departments of any one of the three major credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your credit file.

You may request free credit reports once a year from all three major credit bureaus. Your credit score is a number given to you by the three major credit bureau agencies that reflects your credit profile. At first, it would seem as though your credit score would be the same at all three major credit bureau companies, but in fact all three scores can be different. Credit scores are improved by having the right type of credit, showing responsible use and not having too much credit.

Let’s say, find that some information in your credit report that is incorrect, you may to dispute that information to have it corrected. To file a dispute, you have to attach a copy of your credit report and mark the incorrect items. You most likely will have to prove that the information is false. You should mail the dispute letter as certified mail and always keep copies for yourself. Just like most data you need to have a backup in case you would need to prove what you had sent. Your letter should include your complete name and address, clearly identify each item you dispute, explain why you dispute the information, and request deletion or correction.

Ryan

.:.:AODO4EVER2014:.:. asked:

Congratulations Daniel. You have passed the screening process

(screening process included previous employers, basic info such as name, D.O.B, ect, and also questions, Have i worked at call center before, would i particiapte in drug screening if i had to, ect)

After careful evaluation, we at Mirage International Group © feel that with your experience you would be a great addition to our Customer Service team and could be a valuable asset to our company’s success as we grow and move towards the future.

The next 3 steps are required by all candidates prior to employment with Mirage International Group ©.

1. Three (3) References

a. Two (2) Professional

b. One (1) Personal

· You must provide contact information and your relations.

2. Salary Request

· Mirage International Group © compensates each Customer Service Representative a rate of $22.00 to $25.00 an hour.

3. Soft Credit Verification

· We have chosen Credit Report © as a 3rd Party Company to process your report. You will not be required to inquire with all three (3) Major Credit Bureaus, only one (1). This is very important, DO NOT EMAIL THE CREDIT REPORT. We only request that you email us the Report # provided (e.g.: 200907299280000), which is a reference to your report and not the actual FICO score. This will not determine if your application is accepted or denied, nor will it affect your credit score. This step is to validate all information to be correct and accurate. You will need to bring a hard copy of your report on the day of your orientation. Again, do not email the actual credit report. (Note: You may cancel your account immediately as soon as you have received your report.)

1. Your Full Name

2. Phone Number

3. Reference

a. Professional (Name, Phone, Company, Position)

b. Professional (Name, Phone, Company, Position)

c. Personal (Name, Phone, Relations)

So what do you all think? I would really appreciate any input or opinions on this. What is kind of unusual for me is the whole credit check thing. Then again im not very familiar with credit checks and scores
Well let me know if you think it sounds legit or if its some sort of scam/fraud

Thank you all very much! have a great day =]

Colleen
